How to judge any IPTV player

Five questions separate these apps faster than any feature list.

1. Does it run on your screens — all of them, including the phone and whatever the bedroom TV is?
2. How does it activate — on the device, or by entering your TV's MAC address on a website? The second model works, but you will meet it again every time a device or connection changes.
3. What does the price actually buy — the whole app, or a demo with the useful parts behind a premium tier?
4. What happens to your playlist — typed into the device, or uploaded to the app maker's web portal?
5. Where does it come from — a real app store with automatic updates, or an APK you must fetch and re-fetch yourself?

TiviMate — the Android TV power tool

On a Google TV box with a committed owner, TiviMate is the deepest player in the category: a proper guide grid, recording, catch-up, multiview, Stalker support, and a settings tree that rewards the hours you put into it. Its limits are equally clear from its own listing: it is designed for Android TV, is "not optimized for touch devices", and has no official iOS, Samsung or LG version — the TiviMate-named apps on Apple's store are lookalikes by unrelated developers. IPTV Smarters Pro — the free default

Smarters is the app your provider probably hands out, sometimes wearing the provider's own logo — its developer's real business is selling white-label copies to providers. For you that means a competent, free player on almost anything: Android, iPhone and iPad (as "Smarters Player Lite"), Windows, Mac, Samsung, LG, even a browser. IBO Player — the cheap per-device licence

IBO is the best-known face of the website-activation model: the app shows your device's MAC address, and you pay €5 a year or €10 lifetime against it on IBO's portal, where your playlist is also managed. Two facts from its own pages should be in any honest summary: its FAQ states the app has no EPG system integrated (a guide appears only if your provider is "EPG-ready"), and its terms state there are no refunds. Smart IPTV — the Samsung and LG veteran

SIPTV was playing playlists on Samsung and LG sets before most of this category existed, and its €5.49 one-time fee per device remains the cheapest respectable licence anywhere in it. The workflow is of its era — activation by MAC, playlist uploaded on its website, M3U only — and its own FAQ documents the sharp edges, from dual MAC addresses to device IDs that reset. A note on OTT Navigator

Older round-ups list OTT Navigator alongside these apps. Verifying this page in August 2026, we found its Google Play listing gone (a 404 from multiple storefronts), its developer's Play page listing only other apps, and its old domain no longer mentioning it; the copies in circulation live on third-party APK sites. Whatever the story, we do not recommend sideloading an unmaintained build of an app that holds your subscription credentials, so it sits out this list until it has an official home again.
